An 84-year-old man was killed in an accident on Sept. 24. A 40-year-old man from Monee has been arrested and charged with aggravated DUI due to his role in the accident. Illinois State Police say that the accident took place at Route 45 and Pauling Road near Frankfurt at around 7:36 p.m.
The man from Monee was driving a 2008 Ford F250. He was headed east on Pauling and ran the stop sign at the road’s intersection with Route 45. As he ran the sign, he collided with a 2013 Toyota Avalon driven by the 84-year-old victim. The victim was identified as a man from Mokena and was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:40 p.m. A passenger in the victim’s car had to be airlifted to the hospital as well.
Wrongful death cases, such as this one, can have a devastating impact on the victim’s families. In this case, another victim received injuries so serious that they had to be airlifted to hospital. To further complicate the matter for this family, the driver suspected of causing the accident was cited for not having insurance. Wrongful death cases are often very complex. An attorney may be able to help this family seek compensation for their damages from the suspect or determine if their insurance covers them in the event of an accident with an uninsured motorist.
