Illinois collision injures two – driver cited for DWI

In Madison County, a head-on collision seriously injured two people. According to Illinois State Police, the car accident took place a little after 7:00 p.m. on June 30 on Frey Meadows Road north of Interstate 70 and west of Weis Road.

A car traveling west on Frey Meadows Road apparently drifted into the eastbound lane into the path of an oncoming pickup truck. The truck tried to avoid the car, but was hit head-on. The driver of the car was airlifted to a hospital in Saint Louis. Police later charged her with improper lane usage and DUI. The driver of the pickup truck was taken to a Saint Louis hospital for treatment of his injuries.

It can take months or even years to recover from serious injuries sustained in a car accident. During that time, the injured person may not be able to work. In addition to the loss of income from work, there may be bills for hospital and rehabilitation care. If the person is permanently disabled, they may also require expensive modifications to their home such as ramps, widened doorways and other special accommodations.

For someone who is still recovering from serious injuries, the task of negotiating with impersonal insurance companies may be overwhelming. In addition, insurance companies may try to offer minimal compensation that might not cover all accident-related costs.

An experienced Illinois personal injury attorney may be able to help an injured person obtain a financial settlement. In addition to payment for medical care, home modifications and lost wages, an attorney may be able to secure additional compensation for intangible losses such as pain, suffering and lost quality of life.
