A car accident in Illinois left three individuals dead and five others injured on the evening of Oct. 13. According to the report, a 28-year-old driver allegedly crossed into oncoming traffic, collided head-on with a minivan that was carrying seven people. A family member of the 17-year-old driver of the minivan stated that the other driver was swerving and traveling at a high rate of speed.
Two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The third individual was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. It was reported by witnesses that the damage was so extreme that rescue crews had to cut survivors out of the wreckage.
When high rates of speed and other factors cause an auto accident, those who are involved may suffer from severe injuries or even die as a result. If individuals are lucky enough to survive, they may be left with crippling injuries that could impact the rest of the individual’s life. Furthermore, those involved may face expensive medical costs due to their injuries. If a loved one dies, the family could then be stuck with sudden funeral expenses and other costs.
An experienced Illinois attorney may be able to assist those who have been hurt in a car accident or lost a loved one in a wreck by offering appropriate legal advice. The attorney may attempt to settle with the insurance company responsible for paying monetary compensation in instances where a wrongful death or severe injury occurs. In very rare cases, however, the attorney may also provide strong representation for their client if the case does go to court. This usually happens if a settlement offered by the insurance company does not cover the costs caused by the accident.
